And we’re back!

Wow, I had not meant to start up a blog and then promptly abandon it. I had some great plans for posts at least once a month, but life has a way of happening. In February 2022 I got a lateral promotion at work and that took up a LOT of my time learning the new duties and then managing and executing a HUGE project across the last half of 2022. Then in October 2022 my car got totalled in an accident that was 100% not my fault, so I had to deal with all that right before the holidays (and in the middle of that HUGE work project), and right as all the interest rates on loans were being raised in the US (not to mention a shortage in car inventories).

And then in early 2023 my husband was diagnosed with early stage four colon cancer, and there went the rest of my 2023. I’m happy to say that he’s completed his treatments and the prognosis for complete remission looks very very good.

Having said all that, I’m definitely still foundering in my quest to build a viable daily personal practice. I have an excellent tarot journal and a cute set of stamps from Writual that I manage to use most days to pull a daily tarot card (as well as monthly outlooks and new/full moon spreads). I’ve been enjoying all the wonderful free materials Molly Remer puts out on the 30 Days of Goddess website, as well as her various devotional books. I’ve got the reprint of Caitlin Matthews’ wonderful Celtic Devotional in my hot little hands. But I’m inconsistent with my prayers and other work, and if I’m honest I’m probably “over-shoulding” myself over all of it.

But, it’s a new year, and the upcoming Midsummer holiday is a good time to take stock of where I am. What’s growing? What needs to be weeded? What needs to be watered? I have quite a few books in my pile waiting for reviews for the blog. I do have some classes I’m working through, including a push to finally finish the ADF Dedicant Program and almost the whole year of Magpie classes I bought from the Blackfeather Mystery School (remember that car accident in October 2022? That happened two days before the second live class session and I was in way too much pain to deal with anything). And my Bardic level courses with OBOD… once an overextended gifted student, always an overextended gifted student, I guess. I’ve at least told myself no new long-term classes until I finish all that!

So it’s time to water this blog and see what grows. I do plan to post once a month and I’ve got plenty of topics to delve into along with those book reviews. I’ll try to settle on a consistent publication schedule, and I’ll probably put together a little newsletter blaster that can notify folks when posts come out, in addition to posting on social media. Right now I’m only posting update links to my personal social media, but I am thinking about making an instagram just for the blog. Facebook seems pretty useless for my other blogging friends in terms of getting posts in front of eyeballs (especially new eyeballs).

Got a topic you’d like me to cover? Please post in the comments!
